Simon Watkins’ research focuses on the application of cutting edge optical imaging tools to current biomedical research.  The research base is within the Center for Biologic Imaging which he directs.  This nationally recognized imaging resource develops, builds and applies multimode multidimensional imaging to diverse research areas including Immunology, Cancer and Diabetes.  His own research is principally within Immunology and therein within the field of Dendritic Cell Biology.  His recent studies have shown that these cells are interconnected by an array of submicroscopic tubules which allow rapid and facile cellular communication.
