On a fundamental level, Nathaniel Rosi’s group focuses on
developing new strategies for assembling chemical building
blocks including small molecules, biomolecules, and
nanoparticles into functional materials. The group is
particularly interested in using biomolecules to both direct the
assembly of such building blocks and to serve as templates for
the discovery of new materials. Ultimately, the group hopes to
apply these strategies to target specific materials with unique
properties intrinsic to their nanoscale dimensions that make
them useful for alternative energy applications (e.g.
photovoltaics, gas storage) and therapeutics (e.g. drug
delivery, targeted therapies).
